Enterprise Canada Policy on use of Artificial Intelligence Tools

  • Human oversight is mandatory. We will neither ship to clients nor publish any AI-generated content that hasn’t gone through human oversight and review for accuracy, bias and copyright issues.
  • We will never upload confidential client information into any AI assistant or tool. We do not upload anything into an AI tool that we would not share publicly.
  • We do not use AI for visuals in social media posts, marketing visuals, or other public-facing content without management or senior leadership review. When using AI tools, we exercise extreme caution to avoid putting our clients or their organizations at risk.
  • Every AI-generated text we develop must be checked and cross-referenced for plagiarism, copyright, and trademark infringement.
  • We always ensure that every piece of AI-generated content we produce is compliant with local, provincial or federal regulations.

ETHICAL AI USAGE

  • We will never use AI tools to create “deepfake” style content with intent to deceive or manipulate a client, or deceive the public on behalf of a client.
  • We do not use AI tools to spread misinformation and disinformation.
  • AI tools must never be used to mimic the style of another artist.
  • We will not use AI tools to “correct” audio or visual errors in non-AI work, without prior authorization from a client.
  • Colleagues will inform each other when they’ve used generative-AI tools to create content.  Staff are responsible for tracking the provenance of their used prompts in a project tracking sheet.

GOING FORWARD

  • AI tools are developing and being released into the marketplace rapidly. We will continuously monitor the state of play in the industry and make adjustments to this policy as needed.
