Enterprise Canada Welcomes Public Affairs Leader Matthew Bondy

Enterprise Canada is thrilled to welcome public affairs practitioner and thought leader Matthew Bondy as Vice President, National Public Affairs, and Southwestern Ontario Lead.  

Formerly Deputy Chief of Staff to the Premier of Ontario and coming to Enterprise Canada from his previous role as Vice President at Waterloo Region-based Communitech Corporation, Matthew brings a wealth of expertise in government relations, communications, organizational governance, and national security insight to Enterprise Canada’s pan-Canadian initiatives. He has also been appointed to lead the firm’s southwestern Ontario practice, based in Waterloo. 

To date, his advocacy has helped secure procurement reform at both senior levels of government to benefit domestic innovators, while raising $100M in public-and-private funds for clients and their programs.

Matthew has a particular passion for defence and security issues, having served previously in the Army Reserve and cultivated a significant body of work as a national thought leader on foreign affairs and public policy. His articles have appeared in the National Post, Toronto Star, Australian Naval Review, Foreign Policy Magazine, and the Centre for International Governance Innovation. He writes regularly for the Macdonald-Laurier Institute, a national non-partisan public policy thinktank.

Matthew holds a Master of Arts in Political Science from the University of Waterloo and a practical certificate in national security from Carleton University. He serves currently as chairman of the Ontario Trillium Foundation and, reflecting that commitment to volunteerism, was awarded the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal in 2012 for service to Canada.
